Coming to therapy through movement and the arts

Meredith comes to therapy through a lifelong relationship to dance and the arts, as well as to young people and learning. As a dance artist, educator and facilitator for over 25 years, she has spent her career in creative environments and creating playful, welcoming spaces where children and youth can move, imagine, create and express themselves in their own unique ways.

She holds a Master of Arts in Expressive Arts Therapy from the European Graduate School, an Expressive Arts Therapy Diploma from the CREATE Institute, and Bachelor of Fine Arts (in Dance) and Bachelor of Education degrees from York University.

How Meredith works

Meredith sees therapy as a collaborative and relational process grounded in trust and connection. Her approach is warm, gentle and trauma-informed, with a commitment to ethical and anti-oppressive practice. She respects each person’s unique needs, identity and ways of being, creating a space for them to explore at a pace that feels right for them.

Sessions may include conversation, mindfulness, movement, drawing, writing and other expressive arts practices, depending on what feels meaningful, accessible and comfortable. Guided by curiosity and the wisdom of the body, Meredith supports young clients in connecting with their own strengths, creativity and capacity for resilience and change.

Experience with children, families and communities

Meredith brings extensive experience working with children and youth across educational, community and therapeutic settings. For more than 25 years, she has worked as a teaching artist, dance educator and facilitator, creating inclusive and accessible spaces for young people to explore creativity, build confidence and connect with themselves and others.

Her experience includes arts-based residencies and mentorships in schools, creative movement programs, community arts projects and pre-professional dance education. She has worked with children and youth of diverse ages, abilities and needs.

Her clinical work includes supporting individuals and groups navigating grief, serious illness, family violence, anxiety and life transitions. She has provided expressive arts therapy at Hospice Toronto and the People With AIDS Foundation, and facilitates groups for children, caregivers and gender-diverse parents through the Here to Help program at the YWCA and Child Development Institute.
