Coming to therapy through the arts
Bee comes to therapy through the arts, bringing more than 30 years of experience as a dancer, collaborator and somatic educator. Movement, embodiment and creative process are central to her background and shape the thoughtful, flexible way she approaches therapy.
She holds an MFA in Dance from York University and a diploma in Expressive Arts Therapy from the CREATE Institute. Bee is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and a member of the Ontario Expressive Arts Therapy Association.
How Bee works
Bee sees therapy as relational work. Trust, presence and the connection built over time create the foundation for exploring feelings, experiences and strengths. Sessions may include talking, mindfulness, movement, drawing, writing or sound, following what feels meaningful and manageable for the child or young person.
Her approach is gentle, attentive and trauma-informed, with a playful spirit. She is committed to ethical, reflective, anti-oppressive and neuro-affirming care that respects each person’s identity, context and ways of communicating.
Experience with children, families and communities
Bee has supported children and young people through community arts projects, school and university workshops, and family programming. Her work has included Mabelle Arts, the Bain Co-op and the YWCA’s Here to Help program, where she facilitates groups for parents and children healing from family violence.
She has taught and facilitated in arts and educational settings for more than two decades and currently teaches in Glendon College’s Drama and Creative Arts program at York University. Bee is also a mother, which informs her understanding of caregiving, relationships and the work of supporting families.
